Energy Efficiency and Grills

There is no Energy Star rating for grills, since this equipment is not designed for energy efficiency.

There have been some innovations to help increase the energy efficiencies of grills. Water pans can help redirect heat, while cast iron grates can help improve unit performance without increasing Btu ratings.

One manufacturer offers a grill that produces large amounts of infrared energy but utilizes half the gas, or 20,000 Btus, of a traditional grill.
