Restaurant Performance Index Held Steady in October
The National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Performance Index (RPI) — a monthly composite index that tracks the health of and outlook for the U.S. restaurant industry — stood at 100.0 in October, nearly unchanged from September’s level of 100.1. October’s steady level was the result of softer sales and customer traffic being offset by a more optimistic outlook among restaurant operators.
