Restaurant Industry Growth Moderates
Following largely weather-related lackluster first quarter results, Technomic estimates the restaurant industry will grow at a rate of 3.3 percent for 2014, a downward shift from its initial annual forecast of 3.5 percent. Taking an early look to 2015, Technomic estimates the industry will grow 3.1 percent next year.

Jeff Herren was named vice president of regional sales for Blodgett Ovens, a division of the Middleby Corporation. Based in central California, he will be responsible for Blodgett’s West Coast territory.
Food Management Partners Buys Buffet and Family Dining Concepts
San Antonio-based Food Management Partners has reached an agreement to acquire Furr’s Fresh Buffet. Included in the transaction are 25 Furr’s Fresh Buffet and Furr’s Family Dining restaurants operating in 5 states. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
