Joe Genovese is the new vice president, franchise development for First Watch, a breakfast, brunch and lunch concept. In his new role, Genovese will lead the franchising efforts, including sales and development for First Watch, which operates 115 locations.

Smallcakes Names Saqr CEO
Smallcakes: A Cupcakery named Nadia Saqr its chief executive officer for the chain’s U.S. franchises. In her new role as CEO, Saqr is responsible for overseeing the opening of new franchises and operations of existing franchises. Saqr will also assist founder Jeff Martin with brand development.
Restaurant Industry Performance Inches Forward
The National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Performance Index (RPI) hit 101.2 in November, a 5-month high for the monthly composite index. The NRA cited improving customer traffic levels and same-store sales as factors driving the 0.3 percent increase from October.
Gersten Replaces Hanson as
BR Guest CEO
James Gersten is the new president and chief executive officer for BR Guest Hospitality, a multi-concept operator with a portfolio of 25 restaurants and bars. Gersten replaces Stephen Hanson, who, after founding and guiding BR Guest over the past 26 years, is stepping down from his role to pursue other opportunities.
O’Charley’s Cooks Up New Director of Culinary
David Powell was named senior director of culinary for O’Charley’s, a Nashville-based casual dining chain owned by American Blue Ribbon Holdings.
