SEFA Launches Long-Term Succession Plan
SEFA (Supply & Equipment Foodservice Alliance, Inc.) has initiated a multi-year plan to transition ownership of the group to all of its dealer members and Chris Perrotte and Tom Stritch, two longtime members of its management team. At the completion of the plan SEFA’s current owners, Tedde and Jim Reid, will step away from the organization they founded in 1986.

Panera Announces Management Transition
Panera Bread Company president and co-CEO Bill Moreton will transition to executive vice chairman to tend to a family matter, according to a company release. Effective Aug. 1, 2013, chairman and co-CEO Ron Shaich will serve as Panera’s sole CEO pursuant to the company’s management succession plan.
SFM to Change Name
In an attempt to address the evolving role of its current constituency and potentially broaden its membership base, the Society for Foodservice Management will become The Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management. The new name takes effect on Oct. 1, 2013.
Kitchen Brains Names Lane CEO
Restaurant industry veteran Timothy Lane was named chief executive officer of Kitchen Brains. Lane previously served on Kitchen Brains’ board of directors.
EnviroPure Names New National Sales Manager
Stefan Kahl is the new national sales manager for EnviroPure Systems Inc., a subsidiary of T&S Brass and Bronze Works. Kahn comes to EnviroPure from the Atlanta division of U.S. Foods.
Restaurant Performance Index Reached 100.6 in March
The National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Performance Index (RPI) climbed to 100.6 in March, a 0.7 percent increase from February. March represented the second time in three months that the monthly composite index of key economic factors exceeded 100, signaling a period of expansion for the restaurant industry.
