FMP Bought by Diversified Foodservice Supply Inc.
Franklin Machine Products, Inc. has been purchased by Diversified Foodservice Supply, Inc., an organization focused on the distribution of foodservice parts. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. FMP will continue to operate as a standalone brand, similar to other DFSI companies like AllPoints Foodservice Parts and Supplies.
Mission Restaurant Supply Enters Dallas-Ft. Worth Market
Mission Restaurant Supply has purchased Metroplex Restaurant Equipment, a Ft. Worth, Texas-based foodservice equipment and supplies dealership. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
TriMark USA Buys Federighi Design, Inc.
TriMark USA has acquired Federighi Design, Inc. of Richmond, Calif. The company will go to market under the name TriMark Federighi.
Luby’s to Purchase Cheeseburger in Paradise
Multi-concept operator Luby’s, Inc. reached an agreement to purchase Cheeseburger in Paradise, a chain of full-service, island themed restaurants developed in concert with world-renowned entertainer Jimmy Buffet. The deal is valued at $11 million and is expected to close by Dec. 5.
Eco-Products Bought by Waddington
Waddington North America has acquired Boulder, Colo.-based Eco-Products, Inc., a manufacturer of single-use foodservice products. Eco-Products will operate as a separate division of Waddington.
San Jamar Updates Name, Line Structure
San Jamar, a manufacturer of foodservice, janitorial and sanitation equipment and supplies, announced that it will now carry all of its brands and products under one name.
Restaurant Performance Index Dives to 99.5 in October
The National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Performance Index experienced a 0.9 percent decline in October, landing at 99.5. In addition to being a 14-month low for this monthly index of restaurant industry economic indicators, a rating of less than 100 indicates the industry is in a period of contraction, according to the NRA.

US Foods Opens Retail Location
US Foods opened its first CHEF’STORE, a wholesale, cash-and-carry food and restaurant supply store. Located in Charlotte, N.C., US Foods’ CHEF’STORE features an inventory of what it describes as 4,000 pantry staples, including a variety of non-food items such as sauté pans and cutlery.

While Gross Domestic Product increased the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Performance Index slipped into contraction mode. Much like the overall U.S. economy, it seems as if the foodservice industry will continue to ride this roller coaster for a while.
