L2M Acquires HSI

Foodservice planning and design firm expands its reach.

L2M Foodservice Design Group, a Glen Burnie, Md.-based foodservice planning and design firm, has acquired Baltimore-based Hospitality Services, Inc. (HSI). Founded in 1989, HSI will now operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of L2M.

Steve O'Connor, founder and principal of L2M, previously served as a project manager and principal at HSI, playing a role in the firm's startup. He left HSI in 2002 to form L2M.

As a result of this deal, L2M will add three HSI staff members, doubling its employee base to six. The HSI employees joining L2M are Russell Vaughan, CFSP, project manager; Amy Tate, CID, interior designer; and Okaidja Welbeck, CAD designer.

L2M's core market sectors have historically been foodservice operators in the healthcare, travel and leisure, business and industry, and retail segments. It also had some projects in the college and university foodservice segment. Similarly, the HSI client base includes foodservice operators in the college and university, restaurant, retail and the business and industry segments.
