Foodservice Training Programs Recognized for Excellence in Sustainability and Culinary Entrepreneurship

A group of four culinary educators were recognized for their professional foodservice training prowess as part of the inaugural Culinary Awards of Excellence in Entrepreneurship and Sustainability. The awards were presented by the Center for the Advancement of Foodservice Education.

The Culinary Institute of the Carolinas at Greenville Technical College, Greenville, S.C., received the 2018 Green Award. This honorarium recognizes culinary programs that promote and incorporate sustainability efforts as part of the curriculum and operations. The Culinary Institute of Michigan, based in Muskegon, Mich., earned runner up honors in this category.

The 2018 Entrepreneurial Award — The Food Lab went to the Center for Food and Hospitality Management and Department of Nutrition Sciences, Drexel University, Philadelphia. This award recognizes culinary programs that either teach or encourage entrepreneurship in programming or implement revenue generation and cost savings into operations. Runner up in this category was Park City Culinary Institute, Park City, Utah.
