Foodservice Equipment and Supplies Sales Increase in Q4 of 2017

Reps report a 2.8 percent growth rate at the end of 2017.

Sales of foodservice equipment and supplies increased 2.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2017, according to data from the Manufacturers’ Agents Association for the Foodservice Industry. This was .2 percent better than the third quarter. Screen Shot 2018 02 19 at 12.11.51 PM

In addition, MAFSI members forecast sales of foodservice equipment and supplies will increase 2.4 percent in the first quarter of 2018. 

Breaking down the fourth quarter sales by product type, supplies grew by 3.1 percent, both equipment and furniture grew by 2.9 pecent and tabletop by 2.1 percent. Looking at results by region, sales increased 5.5 percent in Canada, 3.6 percent in the South, 2.8 percent in the Midwest, 1.7 percent in the West and 1.6 percent in the Northeast.

Looking toward the future, 44 percent of reps report increased quoting activity, up 14 percent from the third quarter of 2017. And 34 percent of reps report increased consultant activity, up 8 percent from the previous quarter.
