Imperial Brown Acquires Artic Temp

Deal gives walk-in manufacturer Imperial Brown manufacturing operations in the central U.S.

Imperial Brown, a manufacturer of walk-in refrigerators and freezers, has acquired Artic Temp, also a manufacturer of walk-ins based in Oklahoma. As part of the deal, Artic Temp becomes an Imperial Brown brand that the company will produce at all three of its manufacturing plants.

Imperial Brown now has manufacturing operations in Oregon, Oklahoma and North Carolina.

In addition, all of the Artic Temp employees made the transition to Imperial Brown. The lone exception is Diane West, who served as president of Artic Temp for the past six years following the death of her father and company founder Calvin Gatlin. West is leaving the company by choice. “I’ve always known I wanted to pass Artic on to a quality business that keeps its word, takes care of its employees and creates a family atmosphere,” she said.

In 2012, Imperial Manufacturing of Portland, Ore., acquired W.A. Brown & Son of Salisbury, N.C., to form Imperial Brown. Over the past four years, the two companies have merged into one company in all aspects, from manufacturing to quoting.
