In a deal valued at $55 million, Ignite Restaurant Group has agreed to acquire Romano's Macaroni Grill from private equity firm Golden Gate Capital. The deal is expected to close in the second fiscal quarter of this year.
Romano's Macaroni Grill owns and operates 186 units and franchises 5 units across 36 states. Additionally, the brand franchises 19 units throughout 9 U.S. territories and foreign countries. For the 12-month period ending December 31, 2012, Romano's Macaroni Grill generated approximately $385 million in revenues, according to an Ignite press release. Average unit volumes are approximately $2.1 million.
A multi-concept operator, Ignite's other restaurant chains include the 129-unit Joe's Crab Shack and the 15-unit Brick House Tavern + Tap.
