Chain Restaurant Operating Report for Oct. 27

For its second fiscal quarter of 2011, which ended Oct. 10, Benihana Inc. (NASDAQ: BNHNA; BNHN) reported total restaurant sales increased 4.1 percent to $71.8 million from $69.0 million in the second fiscal quarter 2010. Also for the same time period, company-wide comparable restaurant sales increased 4.7 percent, representing the third consecutive quarter of comparable restaurant sales increases. By concept, comparable restaurant sales increased 7.9 percent at Benihana Teppanyaki, but decreased 0.9 percent at RA Sushi and 1.0 percent at Haru.

3G Capital completed its acquisition of Burger King Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:BKC) for $24.00 per share in cash, or approximately $4.0 billion in the aggregate. As previously announced, Bernardo Hees became chief executive officer of the company, and Alexandre Behring, managing partner of 3G Capital, assumed the position of co-chairman of the board for Burger King.

Così, Inc. (NASDAQ:COSI) reported that system-wide comparable restaurant sales for the 2010 third quarter recorded an aggregate 5.2 percent increase compared to the third quarter of 2009.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: DRI) inked a formal area development agreement with Americana Group to develop and operate the company’s Red Lobster, Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse brands in the Middle East. The agreement calls for Americana to initially develop a minimum of 60 restaurants in Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates over the next five years.

For its third fiscal quarter ending Sept. 12, 2010, Domino's Pizza, Inc. (NYSE:DPZ) reported that domestic same store sales increased 11.7 percent. International same store sales increased 7 percent.

For its fiscal first quarter ending Sept. 21, Frisch's Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE Amex: FRS) reported revenues increased 4.4 percent to $92,925,834 compared to the same period last year. Same store sales declined by 0.8 percent.

For its fiscal third quarter, McDonald’s announced global comparable sales increased 6.0 percent, with the U.S. up 5.3 percent, Europe up 4.1 percent and Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa up 8.1 percent.

Saladworks, a fresh-tossed salad franchise concept, signed development agreements with a pair of existing franchisees to further develop the restaurant chain’s Pennsylvania and New Jersey markets.
