New CEO for New Look Boston Market

In addition to updating its corporate leadership, American dining icon Boston Market is updating its look and its menu.

On the heels of introducing George Michel as its new chief executive officer, Boston Market announced its plans to make significant upgrades to 370 restaurants by the end of year and system wide by spring 2011. Michel, who most recently served as president and CEO of Timothy's Coffees of the World, Inc., replaces Lane Cardwell.

In an attempt to create a warmer atmosphere and better service for customers, Boston Market plans to add staff in each of its locations, including a dining room ambassador. In addition, the fast-casual restaurant chain has replaced its disposable plates and utensils with reusable ones and stainless steel cutlery and upgraded serving stations to include a Chef's Hot Case and carving stations. Boston Market also updated all segments of its menu.

With nearly 40 years in the food and restaurant business, Michel's background also includes serving as CEO of A&W Restaurants in the United States. Prior to his appointment at A&W, Michel spent several years overseeing international operations for Burger King Corporation in the Middle East, Asia and Canada.
