Restaurant Chains Update for Sept. 15

California Pizza Kitchen, The Cheese Cake Factory, Energy Kitchen, The Greene Turtle and Saladworks are among the restaurant chains announcing openings.

California Pizza Kitchen announced plans to open its first restaurant in India. CPK's franchisee is JSMGGC India Pvt. Ltd., a joint venture between JSM Corp. based in Mumbai and Gourmet Gulf Co. based in Dubai.

The Cheesecake Factory Incorporated (NASDAQ: CAKE) opened a Cheesecake Factory restaurant in Bridgewater, N.J.

Energy Kitchen, a Manhattan, N.Y.-based fast-casual chain signed a franchise development agreement for three restaurants in Westchester County, N.Y.

The Greene Turtle added three franchised units, including one each in the following markets: Owings Mills, Md.; Rehoboth Beach, Md.; and Chesapeake, Va.

Saladworks signed an agreement with a multi-unit developer for three locations in Northern Orange County, Calif.

UFood Restaurant Group, Inc. (OTCBB: UFFC) signed an area development agreement with the Robinson Hill Hospitality Group of Chicago for additional UFood Grill units at five U.S. airports.

Yogen Fruz opened its first franchised locations in the United Arab Emirates, with stores in Dubai and Kuwait. The restaurant chain plans five more locations in Dubai.

Church’s Taps Bowie to Lead U.S. Operations

Church’s Chicken named John Bowie president of its U.S. operations. Bowie comes to Church’s from Friendly’s Ice Cream Corp., where he served as senior vice president of restaurant operations since 2007.

 

Prior to Friendly’s, Bowie spent 13 years with Wendy’s International, holding positions in marketing and general management.

 

In his new role, Bowie is responsible for overseeing all company and franchise restaurants operations.
