Popeyes Updates Senior Management Team

Chicken franchisor taps former IHOP executive to serve as COO and promotes a new president to its international operations.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., the franchisor and operator of Popeyes restaurants announced a pair of personnel moves. John Merkin will become the new chief operating officer for Popeyes, effective March 30, 2015. In addition, Andrew Skehan was promoted to president, international with oversight of the company's overseas operations.

Skehan has served as Popeyes' chief operating officer, international since 2011. Currently, Popeyes' presence abroad includes more than 500 restaurants in 26 foreign countries and 3 U.S. territories.

Merkin most recently served as senior vice president of operations at IHOP, owned by DineEquity, Inc. Prior to his years with IHOP, Merkin spent more than 20 years with InterContinental Hotels Group, PLC. He held various positions including senior vice president, brand management, Holiday Inn Brands, the Americas.
